Adult Day Program

An event every week that begins at 10:00am on Thursday, repeating until October 26, 2017
Are you caring for a loved one with memory loss?
Have you considered the Adult Day Program
Camano Center Adult Day program supports participants experiencing cognitive challenges and families caring for them. The focus is on socialization, reminiscing, and prevention. For participants who would otherwise stay home, social stimulation and recreational activities may improve or maintain physical and cognitive function. Re-hospitalizations may be diverted, plus a potential delay in admission to residential long-term care. Participants are supported in his/her goal to age in place. Likewise, caregivers are offered respite from care giving responsibilities.
The Adult Day Program began as a pilot program and was so well received that it now runs regularly once a week. “This is the only program of it’s kind within a 30 minute drive from Camano Island,” says Ginny Berube, who coordinates the program. “And that’s not only a convenience issue,” she continues. “For many people with dementia, each additional minute driving further away from home can bring increased anxiety.”
