Free Support for Island Residents Who Need a Helping Hand
Camano Helping Hands & the Volunteer Chore Program is a free program for Island Residents in need of a helping hand. It is a free service connecting volunteers with Camano residents who need a little extra help to live safely and independently at home.
Volunteers assist with non-medical everyday tasks such as:
Yard care
Grocery shopping and prescription pickups
Dog walking
Light housekeeping
Please note: Personal care, respite care, and moving assistance are not provided through this program.
This program is a partnership between the Camano Center and the Opportunity Council, and we’re proud to offer this valuable support to our community.
Who Can Benefit
This program is ideal for people who:
Are 60+ or living with a functional disability
Live independently (not in a care facility or supported housing)
Have low income or cannot afford paid services
Or have needs that are not met by family, friends, or other community programs
Important Details
All services are free, based on volunteer availability — there may be a wait time.
Volunteers choose the tasks they’re able and interested to help with.
