Camano Helping Hands & Volunteer Chore Program

Free Community Support for Island Residents Who Need a Helping Hand
Camano Helping Hands & The Volunteer Chore Program is a free service connecting volunteers with Camano Island residents who need a little extra help to live safely and independently at home. This program is a partnership between the Camano Center and the Opportunity Council, and we’re proud to offer this valuable support to our community.

We promote independence for older adults and provide caregivers with relief and guidance. In our community, no one faces aging’s challenges alone. With compassion and connection, we make aging a shared journey—not a solitary one.

55+ Resource Fair

An annual fair offering information on services and programs that support healthy aging, connection, and well-being for adults 55 and older.

Transportation to medical appointments is provided by volunteers to Camano Island residents who qualify for the program.

Our volunteers provide a scheduled phone calls to help ensure the participants' well-being and to brighten their day with a friendly caring voice.

Nutrition Programs

We partner with Island Senior Resources to bring a nutritious lunch and Meals on Wheels home delivered meals on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a six-week course designed to help caregivers take better care of themselves while caring for a relative or friend.

Sharing is Caring

Support for those caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia is available. Group meets the 3rd Wednesday.
