Camano Fit & Steady

Camano Center is pleased to offer fall prevention fitness classes in partnership with Camano Fit.

What to Expect

This is a fall prevention fitness class which includes aerobic, balance, and resistance work for adults 65 and older. It follows evidence to support improved strength and balance, along with functional fitness and educational information to aid in the reduction of fall risks.

Each class includes:

  • 3-5 minutes of warm-up stretching
  • 15-18 minutes of light aerobic exercise that can be done seated or standing
  • 10-15 minutes of balance work
  • 15-20 minutes of strength training
  • 5-10 minutes of stretching and education
  • All weights are provided

Performing exercises that improve strength, balance, and overall fitness is the single most important activity adults can do to stay active and reduce their risk of falling. This class incorporates all of these components and can reduce falls for those who attend regularly 2–3 times per week.

Regular attendance is expected. If this schedule will not consistently fit your routine, this class may not be the best fit. This is a lifelong commitment to your health and well-being.

Class Options and Monthly Costs

  • 2 days per week (Tuesday/Thursday): $30 per month | Two class times available
  • 3 days per week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday): $40 per month | Three class times available
  • Seated class option is also available for those with mobility challenges.

How to Prepare for Class

Athletic tennis shoes with enclosed heels and toes must be worn with comfortable clothing and pants that don't fall below the shoe. It is recommended to eat something before your class and bring a water bottle with you. Hydrating during class is required.

How to Sign Up

Camano Fit and Steady classes are popular, and openings are limited. Each class maintains a waitlist.

If you would like to join, please call or stop by the front desk for more information and to add your name to the waitlist of your preferred class.
