The community lunch program at the Camano Center is served on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and it is made possible by our amazing volunteers. It is more than a program. It's an opportunity for connection, conversation, and community building. Friendly, dedicated individuals help make this possible.
Lunch Roles
The volunteer cashier and greeter welcome lunch guests, make change, and help create a warm inviting atmosphere.
The volunteer server will bring meals to seated guests ensuring food is delivered with care and attention.
The volunteer dishwasher will use a commercial dishwasher helping the kitchen run smoothly.
Volunteers will help set up tables and chairs, lay place settings for arriving lunch guests, and ensure tables and chairs are cleaned after meals.
Qualifications and Requirements
A food handlers permit is required for serving roles. The cost of obtaining the permit will be reimbursed.
The ability to stand during your shift and carry small items such as plates, glasses, and pitchers (if you are serving or setting up).
Awareness of proper food hygiene and a willingness to wear latex-free gloves for sanitary reasons.
Enjoy conversations and foster a sense of community during meals.

All necessary training and supplies, aprons, gloves, etc.

The location is the Camano Center.
The time commitment is Monday, Wednesday, or Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Choose to volunteer one, two, or all days based on your availability.
Volunteers will work alongside a small friendly team of other volunteers and staff.
This is an excellent opportunity for those who enjoy creating a welcoming environment and engaging in conversations. Many of our guests are regulars and volunteers often develop ongoing relationships with them making it a rewarding and fulfilling experience.
Comfortable casual attire is encouraged as are closed-toed shoes for safety.
Not only will you contribute to a meaningful cause but you'll also enjoy the camaraderie of working with others who share your passion for community service. Volunteers often feel fulfilled knowing their efforts directly support local seniors and community members in need of a nutritious meal.
